Drag an idol into your office to "Socialize", then when you're on a date with her select "Talk about graduation" -> "Fire"

Okay, I see this bug. You actually have less scandal points, but the counter at the bottom and the tooltip show the old value.
For now you can fix it by just reloading your game (for example: fire an idol -> return to main menu -> click continue)
