Ayo, mate! Hope you take this as constructive criticism, not as kicking tires. I played earlier today with the alpha version and uploaded to my YT channel as a "let's play" video

Wonderful game so far, and I quite loved it. However some highlights to improve upon:

  • Save mechanic - The save feature doesn't work--it creates a new game. The only way to save progress is to press "quit". Creating a new save spot creates a new game entirely, which is weird af. I thought that saving to a new slot would make a save... but it made a whole new game instead, which is STRANGE
  • Clipping - in the first Inn, the fireplace can be clipped into. You can also gimmick the benches in the inn to crow climbing skill
  • Dialogue Speed - Most dialogue boxes are shown too quickly on the screen to be able to read them. There is no 'dialogue log' to look back on, so it is hard to track conversations
  • Ability points - At one point in the video, the game would tell me I had points to spend, but I did not--I checked all menus, but nothing had extra points to spend
  • English - The wording of everything is very 'engrish'--hard to understand and quite unnatural. I'd be willing to help you translate, if you'd like. Lots of the text is awkward, and foreign to me as a native english speaker/reader
  • NPC Dialogue - NPC's appeared to often talk with themselves, and sometimes even in dialogue referred to themselves in 3rd person
  • Village Mark on Main Map - While playing, I noticed that main village map was not outlined/notated on the main map. Only while using the "j" journal contract was I able to find my way back. Adding the village to the main map would be helpful

All in all, fantastic game, brotha! I'm excited to see where you go with this! You have an amazing foundation and eye. I love it so far, so please don't take my criticisms the wrong way.

edit: formatting, added another bullet point, added more information to current bullet points.

Hi, thanks for the feedback!

For the writing, I totally agree. I already mentioned on my itch page that it's a total "slop-fest" at the moment. I already touched many parts in the UI, but still need to fix all the quests and dialogue. AI does NOT help here it all.

For ability points, I have to check. I know one issue where you can EARN points but don't have anything to SPEND on (e.g. because a skill only has two passives or so). I should add an additional check whether you can spend points and otherwise suppress the hint.

The village should be marked on the main map as an "o". Maybe I can find something better. Also if you zoom out it may vanish. This is a bit of a problem with the large world map, because thousands of tiles then compete for the one glyph. Can you tell me the timestamp in the video where you struggle with the map, so I can check what exactly is going on?

As for saving... Yeah the game autosaves periodically and also on Quit. I should add a hint about that :D The save management is for when you want to have multiple characters, and they can also live in different world seeds. The default seed is 1337. The other ones are only for the brave.

As for the tavern: I wasnt aware you can walk into the hearth. But what's even dumber is that you have to jump over the counter or a bench to get to the inn room xDD I'll put interior design fixes on my todo list
