The game takes a while to load. It takes my PC around a minute to fully load this game, so I'll typically start it up, then run in the other room to get a drink or use the bathroom while it's loading, it's usually up by the time I come back. If the game is in fact crashing, try clearing your saves or do a fresh copy from the download folder (it could be you're trying to load save date from an older version of the game).
