Gloop 3 Devlog 3

DEVLOG 1: 

Gloop 3 is the third entry in the gloop series and as always comes with completely new core mechanics and gameplay loop!

This time around we have a gardening game with a grappling mechanic deeply integrated into the gameplay loop! it's super fun, trust me.

There's minimal hand-holding, with an ingame guide on what buttons do what and some information that should set you on the right track to understanding how to understand sigils, the magic system within the game, they communicate to the player an object's game function and lore at the same time!

The development journey so far for Gloop 3 has definitely been significantly different than the other entries in the series, now don't get me wrong developing gloop 1 and 2 were totally different experiences, Gloop was first person and Gloop 2 was third person for example, but unlike previous entries making Gloop 3 felt almost completely frictionless, I think I'm really starting to get my head around godot and am getting comfortable in my workflow. And not to mention making Gloop 3 has taken me down countless wikipedia rabbit holes about the phoenician pantheon and led me to learn about medieval alchemy- something felt distinct about this entry and so I decided to release an alpha! I think this way I'll be able to get more feedback during the development process. Since I've got a total of one comment on my games thus far, I decided that anyone who gives me feedback or just says hello will be added into the game in crop form using their profile picture in the texture! (aslong as it's not anything nsfw!) 

Okay,  I'll stop writing this devlog now and go work on the next update :)

 Above: Farmland with a sigil that explains what type of seed can be planted here, and how the magic in the soil will affect the plant in gameplay and lore relevant ways.

 DEVLOG 2: 

This is a huge update covering new core mechanics, changes to existing core mechanics, a new area, a new crop type and the addition of enemies

Core Mechanics:

Added health, when you run out of it you respawn (but keep your items)

Changed web sling, now your web sling can attach to moving objects and it moves with them!

Added enemies, they detect you if you get close, shoot fans, and have evasive maneuvers

New Crop:

Added Perplexing Pear, this crop towers high being the tallest crop in the game, and with it's staggering height it also gains stability, allowing the player to collide and web sling on it!

New Area:

Added Pear Islands, this new area holds the new crop type and the new trophy, more on that below

Trophy:

Added Alpha Trophy, get your hands on one of these and post a screenshot of you with it under the game's itch.io page and you will be added into the game in plant form! using your profile picture or (optionally upload an image of your choosing in addition to the screenshot) i will create a new plant to add to the Supporter Island in the update after your comment!

 DEVLOG 3: 

I've created a save system! that means you can save your progress and load it up at a later date! 

Currently it automatically saves in your browser with cookies, and this is working so far, but if anything goes wrong let me know and i'll add an option to download your save file locally!
