floppy disk not working

Hi! I don't know if this has happened to anyone else or just me, but in the new 0.9.0c version, once I get the tasks and go to the satellites with the floppy disk, I do everything correctly, but once I get to the base, the disk is empty.

I did several tests, like carrying several disks. I tested going to the satellite and returning to the base to see if it had the hash code, and it did, so I assumed it was working normally. I went to the other two, returned, and it was blank again.

And as a final test, I tried again. I went to the first satellite and thought, "Well, if I can't save them all in one go, I'll take out this code and go to the base to save it." I took out the code, went to the base, and it was blank. I didn't even have that code. So I don't know why or if it's my mistake.

Are you putting in "sv.hash" or "sv.request" into the console?

Ofc, i do everything Obviously waiting for it to say it completed successfully, but I go to the database and when I check the hash codes, nothing comes up.

And you checked your read/writes on your disk?

Yes, it comes out blank as if there's nothing there. If you want, I can take screenshots.

Huh. That's very odd. I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else and haven't experienced it. No clue

Let me take some screenshots, The quality will be a bit rubbish because my laptop isn't the best.

To clarify:

  • you are putting a floppy into satellite server’s drive
  • you are typing in ‘sv.request’ and wait for successful completion
  • when you later put the disc into alpha base computer, it has more than 0 read/writes left.

Correct?

Yeah, i do everything, i go to the satelite, sv request and wait, When it's over, I go to the base, check the disc, and it's empty.

And what does the read/write counter say? Is it above 0?

(+1)

It says he has 32

this may be a dumb question, but what color is the disk(s) you're using?

Yellow one, I tested all the discs that come with the game on the computer, and the same thing happens with all of them. At first, I thought it was my fault because I grabbed discs that were in lockers. The problem was that it wasn't saving the hash codes, and I assumed that since they were old they weren't saving anything, meaning they were garbage, but I tried with the ones that were on the desktop and nothing.

I have also experienced this, where disks with enough read/writes don't save the data. In my case my floppy actually saved one of them out of the three I did, and weirdly not the latest one either. I moved it onto the PC, onto a ZIP and once I'd gone back and collected the other two, it was completely gone from the ZIP as well. Out of curiosity I put the two data blocks I'd just collected into the ZIP as well, then ejected the ZIP before putting it back in the PC and now all three of the data blocks had completely vanished.

So it seems that data can disappear from both floppies and ZIPs if you eject and put them into slots between putting data on?

so as i understand it, the ZIPs are meant to be written to exactly once. I could be misunderstanding this, but it may be that ejecting the Zip > Inserting the (bugged?) floppy > Ejecting the floppy > reinserting a previously written-to ZIP , and re-writing, may be overwriting the ZIP with Null? IDK, just spitballing, honestly i don't have much experience with the new daily tasks.  Have we ruled out legacy save files? like, are we having this issue with saves created with 0.9.0?

I haven't been able to try the zip file because the floppy disk doesn't save it from the start, and I haven't had a chance to transfer them to my computer, so I have no idea if they'll work either.

News: I saw they released a new update, 0.9.0d, so I thought I'd try it to see if my problem was fixed. I went to the satellite papa the first one with a yellow floppy disk, got the code, went back to the base, and nothing. I said okay, I'll go to the other two, Lima and Charlie, and surprise, there were the codes, so I transferred them to the computer, but this time with a green one. I went to papa and nothing, I came back with a red floppy disk And again, at least I managed to get two, so I said okay, I'll put them in a zip file. I put them in the zip file and I don't know why I decided to check it and oh surprise, the zip file was empty, and I said okay, I'll send, I sent it and it turns out no code was sent, so the zip file was empty. I don't know what else to do.
