❤️ Join ArtLine Studios – Help Bring Our First Game, "Trail", to Life! 🐶

Hello! We’re ArtLine Studios, a creative studio stepping into the world of game development—and we’re working on our very first title: "Trail", a heartfelt, story-rich 2D pixel art side-scroller about exploring, kindness, and second chances. (and of course, puppies! 🐶). There will be multiple endings depending on the choices the player makes (like the game Undertale), each with powerfully emotional scenes. ❤️

We’re currently building a small team (3–5 people total), and we’re looking for folks of all experience levels to join us!

✨ Who We’re Looking For:

🎨 Pixel Artist / Asset Artist [NEEDED!!!] ❗❗❗

Responsible for translating concept art into in-game assets.

- Create character sprites, environment tiles, and basic animations

- Work within a defined style based on reference art and direction

- Help develop a consistent visual tone for the game world

✔️Positions Filled:

🎮 Game Developer / Programmer: [FILLED POSITION] ✔️

You'll be in charge of building the game itself—bringing together art, audio, and gameplay into a cohesive experience.

- Flexible on tools (Godot, Unity, GameMaker, etc.)—whatever you’re comfortable using

- You’ll implement gameplay, menus, scenes, transitions, and basic logic

- You’ll work from our concept materials, design outlines, and asset packs

🎵 Sound Designer / Composer - [FILLED POSITION] ✔️

You’ll shape the emotional tone through audio, designing peaceful, immersive soundscapes.

- Compose original background music and ambient tracks

- Create simple sound effects (e.g., footsteps, interactions, UI sounds)

- Collaborate to match the story’s emotional beats and world atmosphere

💰 Revenue Share Breakdown:

- 20% – Game Developer / Programmer

- 15% – Sound Designer / Composer

- 15% – Pixel Artist / Asset Artist

- 5% - Voice-actors (not currently hiring atm)

- 15% – Reserved for future project funding under ArtLine Studios

This is a paid rev-share opportunity and a chance to collaborate on something meaningful from the ground up. Please note that the revenue-share agreement may be subject to adjustment depending on future developments or project needs.

If you're interested in working with us on this project, please submit this google form to us and we will get back to you shortly! https://forms.gle/hkmf5dpNCi5tWZyK9

EDIT: We have now included a link to a google form so applicants can easily provide details, portfolio links, etc. Thank you for your patience :)

EDIT2: We have now confirmed the sound-design/composer! :D

EDIT 3: We have now confirmed the game-dev/programmer! :D

Even if positions are filled, still feel free to send over portfolios, as we may need more people in future projects! ❤️

Programmer here, I’ve sent in an application, but for additional context.

  • I have 1 Year of learning experience in Godot as well as a year of academic experience in Unity.

I’ve worked on some of the mechanics mentioned in the description as well so I believe I can effectively deliver a clean implementation of them given the time and direction.

In my application I’ve sent a couple of the things I’ve worked on and believe the premise of the game aligns with what I love about games I play myself and work on as well and I’d love to join the team. I also currently have plenty of time to dedicate to the project and the motivation to see it through.

Hope you’ll consider me, Thank you!

All we need now is a Pixel Artist to create stunning backgrounds, characters and other assets for the game, then we'll be in full production! :D

I have two questions, the first is if you already have the size of the sprites in mind and in what time zone you work?

Hi there! Thanks so much for reaching out—and great questions!

We’re leaving creative decisions like sprite sizing up to the artist, so you’d have full freedom to decide what scales and styles work best for the game’s feel and visual flow. If there’s anything technical that needs adapting later, we’re always happy to collaborate around it.

As for the timezone, I’m based in the UK (BST), but everyone on the project works at their own pace and schedule. We’re super flexible—just ask that team members pop into the Discord or drop a quick email update now and then, so we can keep things running smoothly.

Let me know if you have any other questions—we’d love to have you aboard!

Hello thank you so much for the opportunity. I’m actually a beginner in game development but have a solid background in art and photography. I’ve worked on a project before, though I haven’t yet put together pixel sprites for my own game since I’m not confident with coding.

Including creating pixel art, I’m happy to help with any other art-related tasks or bits of extra tasks which you might need. I’m really excited to contribute and would prefer to work entirely online if possible.

Also, I’ve submitted the form as requested.

Looking forward to collaborating!

Thanks again!

Thanks so much for your message and for submitting the form — really appreciate it! I’ll be reviewing applications properly next week, so I’ll get back to you after that. We’re currently looking for pixel artists, and I’m actually considering putting together a small team instead of just one person, so that could open up more ways to contribute. It’s great to hear you’re interested in helping with our project :) I’ll be in touch soon!

Thanks for reaching out — we’re currently focusing on pixel art, so if you’ve got any experience in that area, feel free to fill out the form (if you haven’t already), and I’ll get back to you after reviewing applications next week! :)
