For anyone having trouble with the file navigator. When you're in the editor press ESC. That'll open up the folder the file nav is trying to read. I just dumped my PNG files in that folder and it found them (refresh the explorer). It sounds like the dev has abandoned this project. That instruction is in the little "i" info button on the lower left corner but it wasnt obvious at first.
