Essenceborn is being made by a solo developer. In the current pre-alpha state the art, UI, sprite assets are "programmer art" that over time will be replaced by professional assets.
This project was started due to concern that Pox Nora was no longer a viable game and is at risk of shutting down. All of the short-term goals for Essenceborn revolve around providing a replacement for the PvP game. In the future tutorials and single player content will be added but these are not the top priority.
In terms of content, I am targetting around 300-400 champions and a similar number of spells. The current game has close to a fifth of these implemented, though many sprites are being shared between units.
