Any Thoughts of Updates?

I checked in on this page and realized once again what a great thing there is in Opuscule.

Any further chances of an update?

Developer

I don't know. I've been thinking about it lately. On one hand, I'd love to. On the other hand, I haven't touched it for years and I'm not even sure I'd still be able to understand the awful code I wrote to make this work. This would require tremendous amounts of energy that I don't have at the moment.

I don't exclude it though, but it would likely be an Opuscule 2 more than an update. I am deeply unsatisfied with all the static website generators I've used so far, and for me Opuscule kind of served this purpose for a while. So maybe I'll end up making something similar again in the future.

My main issues besides time and skills is that I'd like something with a more universal format, like actual Markdown instead of the bizarre text database I was using, and a proper tagging system to allow a free, wiki-like structure instead of my rather rigid page logic. I'd like to be able to edit text documents outside and inside Opuscule seamlessly, but that would required quite a bit of technical design first. I want something like Obsidian, but much, much simpler, and with clean and easy HTML export.

So... Yeah, maybe I'll give it a try at some point, but no promise :)

Just wanted to add that I too enjoy using opuscule and hope someday for an update/sequel! I've been using it for years mostly to journal/brainstorm, just because I like the way it looks, ease of use, and the autosave feature. Primary hope for any update/sequel would be a reduction in lag for large pages. Hope you revisit it someday :)

Exciting news that there is interest. Right I am using Zettlr (which is great) but I really liked the "Randominding" (yes, its a word now) that I get from Opuscule. Reboot, sequel, Ill take it. I wish to all the heavens there was some way I can contribute but...

In any case, Yes, let us hope. And in the end, Opuscule is useable, it is a completed project, tremendously. So thank you for that.
