Any time I use that command it points towards a post just outside of Base,

I think you mean sv.target rather than ping, but yeah I'm having the same issue :(

Use the map. My advice probably won’t be the best, but just try to remember the location of the satellites, it’s not difficult, the map is not as big as it seems. I played relatively little, and I don’t have a good memory, but I became quite good at navigating the terrain and after one of the updates I stopped using this command, finding the path on my own
