This is my character. She has 55dmg, 11 def, 90acc and 6 drain. Here's the issue: she cant hit anything. At first it was just a single attack, then none of them worked. even with sufficent energy, she just wouldnt cast them. Same happened to other characters. She also started capping at 60 health and energy eventho it started normally at 100. Healing items were useless and it was overall impossible to get out of fights without them killing you and pissing off on their own accord. I get that making a game is hard, but considering that you guys advertise the game aspect so much I expected it to be functioning (sorry if I sound harsh, I am a little frustrated.). I also want to note that after everything stopped working for her, the other characters broke too but in a diffrent way: instead of just not casting, they would go into the animation, freeze and just stand there. Frozen screen for up to 2 minutes until it snaps you back into the attack selection or you have to manually cancel with your mouse click. Then, after trying a few more times to get the attack out so i can end the fight, the game speeds up and has the whole enemy attack timeline in a single second and swoop, youre kicked out of the ui, character is knocked out on the floor and fight is lost. Im not joking, its impossible to win. Had a tanky orgre get oneshot by a maze wielder with 19 hp (i ended up using the traps but its expensive and considerably hard to set up when your money keeps getting stolen as well as them not doing enough dmg.)

I hope my description was acceptable and I wish you a good evening/day/whateve. Let me know if it's a problem on my end or if you fix the bug. Otherwise, your game was a load of fun altho the ui is hard/clunky to navigate at first. Bye bye~

What was your money like when it broke for you, and what room/s did you fight in?

When hoarding large sums of coins (+100k/+500k/+1mil) on the day market re-stocks, enemy level skyrockets (up to the 1000s when you have 1mil+). Seemed to me that a big level gap between invader & defender breaks combat somehow, though not with regard to the to-hit chances, but damage. Seems there's a level multiplier in play in the background; and with that at work, when you pit a lvl ~1000 invader vs a lvl 50 defender, defender attacks will deal about 0-2 points dmg, while the invader dude can basically one-shot you with a jab.

I did notice that such high-level invaders will also play all their combat anims in one go & REAL fast, only so far it didn't break my game like it did yours. May also be that itz putting too much load on your rig in that situation, thus freezing & breaking combat - this game hogs more RAM/VRAM than CP2077 on all ultra, judging by the speed of my RTXs cooler fan^^.

And there was one other thread that discussed combat being broken/bugged, but only in certain rooms, though much like you described I think: Freezing OR not being able to target invader, thus unable to win without gadgets. So maybe change the room interior on your defender's spot, see if that helps any. And avoid hoarding loads of coin on re-stock day, take note of invader lvl, if big lvl gap is the issue maybe. No other ideas on this topic, sry.

my money never got past 30k cus i was upgrading and buying rooms as soon as it was possible. By the time I had nothing left to buy, the game had alreayd been broken for a while. The enemy levels were around... 20?? i think? Im not sure since it's been a while but I recall my character being almost 10 levels above them at given times due to exp crystals i used in early game. The npc inhabitants were usually around the same level or even a few levels above the attackers. I think the only case were one of them was slightly lower in level (like 2) the fight actually was won haha. I fought in many diffrent rooms as well, max farm, max goldmine, prison cell and throne room. It didn't influence the outcome.  I played the game on low visual settings cus I thought the pixels looked nice so that couldn't have been the problem either. Idk... its an indie game and free to play so no harm done other than my 4hour investment haha

It's true the gameplay loop starts to break down at around this stage due to gold hoarding and how the power scaling doesn't account for the fact that you can just run several gold mines at once, or maybe it does and you're just expected to have hoards of followers die per invader.
Since I started with the idea of just creating a spike corridor, I figured out quickly that any invader will die or come close to dying before they even encounter anyone. (You might want to consider starting another save to try this)

For whatever reason, all the status bars, in this version, are fixed at 100, and 4 level 5 spike traps do a fixed 26 damage (you do the math on that one). With a graveyard and an alter, you have the option to revive any of them and now you have a high levelled zombie.

If you would rather have high levelled living followers or don't want to put in a spike trap corridor, then:

  • Use Nail Bombs! Nail Bombs have the equally amazing property of having fixed damage, just chucking 7 Nail Bombs at someone(7 x 15 = 105 damage) will always take them down to 0 health. Unlike in monster capture games, a character at 0 health only dies once you end your turn, which means you can either use the capture ability or Shackles.
  • Send followers out to capture others. Whether you managed to capture a high levelled follower, or they somehow died, you can always send them back out in search for others to bring back (yes I mean sending zombies out, not just a corpse). Followers will always capture others around their level.

This all being said, high levels become a bit pointless since combat just turns into sticking sharp objects into anyone until they either submit or die, but it at least gives you the freedom of keeping whoever you want despite their combat ability.

i did have a four long spike coridor that was three wide. I built it because i thought it was permadeath and got paranoid but since it also made fights fast i never destroyed it.  Sadly, even a one-hit enemy can kill you when you cant physically hit them XD Like I said, I think you misunderstood my post. I had no trouble fighting, my attacks and items just didnt work. Sorry to tell you but it was not a skill issue on my part that caused this haha XD I am gratefull for you trying to give me gametips but I didnt have any trouble with that stuff so it kinda doesnt help much. Like I said, I literally cant do combat becasue the attacks arent accepted by the system. Maybe its a num variable issue, since i've seen sth in this direction (in my own code) when I get out of memory value exceptions but I might just be talking out my ass.
Anyway, I implore you to read posts more carefully before throwing in your advice because being unable to attack or use offfense items is not the same thing as being bad at a game. Thank you nonetheless.

I admit I was little sleep deprived when I was reading your post so I accept I misunderstood the main issue.
The game is fairly broken, in all ways that you mentioned and then some, depending on far you 'progress' with developing your dungeon. Even without the bugs, most combat skill this game expects you to utilize just doesn't really work/matter past a certain point anyway, so all the stuff I mentioned just feels like abusing something the developer forgot about / hasn't fixed yet.
Attacks seem to take a lot of processing power, and this has crashed my game at least twice when the enemies can start hitting with a flurry of 20 attacks in one turn as if the first hit isn't already a TKO. I don't know exactly if this is related to your issue, but them doing a stupid amount of moves against you at higher levels is 'normal' so it could at least explain why it's freezing.

Sorry if my post came off as offensive, I would have also preferred it if this game works as intended without the bugs or broken scaling issues it has.
