When doing random things in the game, I get "VM execution aborted: tried to write to address zero." The only thing I have found that seems to reproduce it fairly reliably is to go to the area right after you acquire the pistol and first encounter the shield enemies. Charge up your shot, shoot an enemy, or let them hit you.
