Very good game, the maps are very carefully delineated and the terrain contours are standard. However there are some drawbacks and suggestions and expectations I would like to raise.
Firstly, the zoom multiplier of the map is not big enough, not so much when the battlefield spans too much. For example, when I conquered the Balkans, sending troops to Northern Europe became a torturous problem. I would suggest that a box-select function should be designed to select all armies in an area, which might improve things.
Secondly, the game is full of a lot of clicking. Moving, merging, and splitting armies all require clicking, which really isn't very kind to my fingers and tendons. I noticed that you seem to have taken inspiration from some famous strategy games, such as the time pause system. most of the strategy games I've played on the itch platform are turn-based, your game is a big breakthrough! Then it might be a good idea to continue to learn from the fact that you can create compositions, like HOI4, and trained troops can be added to the compositions automatically. This saves a lot of clicking and definitely improves the fun of playing the game.
Thirdly, there are some designs that I think could be improved. For example, adding Ireland and Portugal to the game, I don't really understand why the Republic of Malta and Moldova are both playable countries, but these two countries are not playable. There doesn't seem to be any Iceland in the game, and when I attacked Russia at the end of the game I didn't see Ukraine, I don't know if you just merged it with Russia or if it was annexed in the game.
Fourthly, the game seems to have a few bugs. for example, after making an alliance with a country, when an allied country's troops are in your territory and you tear up the treaty and declare war, it can't mobilise it's troops, and similarly, you can't command the troops you have in the allied country's territory. And, when a conflict breaks out with an enemy country's army, even if I merge the army that is in conflict with the army that is outnumbered, the conflict still fails. And it will remove the merged army instead of reducing the number of people who started the conflict. When time changes from flowing to paused, time still goes a little while. Then I can still move armies while time is paused, I don't know if this is an intentional design or a bug, but in any case it does help me play the game more easily.
The last thing I would say is that the game is great! There is already a very good framework in place, all it needs from being a masterpiece is more optimisation and tweaking. However, the web-based gameplay is not very stable, and occasionally the game won't run. I hope you make programs for Windows, preferably integrating the 1912, 1936, and 2023 you've made to make it more interesting. You can refer to Greater Diplomacy 3 to make a Windows version of the programme.
It is highly recommended that you make a world map version of Absolute War !!!!!
Thanks for reading and I look forward to your reply.
