Maze of Whispers will continue to evolve as it receives updates. Here is what we have planned for the future:

Alpha 1 (current):

Key: Bold = complete, Italics = currently in progress, strikethrough = not yet implemented

  • Basic classes:
    • Warrior: Relies on physical attributes for stamina, speed, and strength.
      • Heavy Blow
      • Cleave
      • Pierce Armor
      • Brace/Shield block
      • Second wind
    • Mage
      • Fire Ball
      • Ice Bolt
      • Acid Splash
      • Poison Fog
      • Blur
    • Cleric
      • Smite
      • Heal
      • Bless
      • Curse
    • Ranger
      • Flame arrow
      • Poison arrow
      • Ice arrow
      • Summon pet
  • Basic biomes: Caves, dungeons, and forest
    • Each biome should have its own vibe/feel
    • Encounter tables with unique monsters
    • Unique loot with unique appearances
  • Random dungeons
    • Each floor is randomly generated each time it is loaded.
    • Rooms are randomly populated with monsters, based on encounter tables
  • Scaling difficulty: Monsters and rewards continue to increase as the player descends
    • Each biome has layers with corresponding level ranges. 
      • Each layer has its own monster encounter table.
      • More difficult monsters should spawn on lower layers.
    • The layer is determined by the starting level of the current floor. For example, in the caverns: 
      • The Upper Caverns is limited to level 1.
      • The Lower Caverns exists from levels 2 through 4.
      • The Deep Caverns is from levels 5 onward.
  • Scaling rewards: 
    • Each biome has its own loot tables
    • Item rewards increase with each layer.
  • Item improvement through refinement
    • Base weapon damage is increased/level
    • Armor amount is increased/level
    • Skill level can be increased/level for items that grant or increase skills
    • Any fixed (non-random) secondary bonus can be increased/level 
  • Basic crafting
    • Workbench, forge, & anvil as workstations
    • Recipes for each of the basic weapon types
