at the entrance to the base there is a yellow mailbox, which, as I know, is a storage facility available immediately for all saves of one game mode. you can try to put the necessary things into it, for example, a map, a shovel and the rest necessary to achieve the goal, and after receiving it, put everything back, taking it away in the main save.
depends on the water. the lake? yeah, itll be there somewhere. in one of the other waterways? hard to say. it might have caught on the grate at the far ends of the base, on some the rocks in them, or against one of the bridges.
thats for the fishing rod at least, theres several shovels around the map. one at the cabin, in one of the transformer houses, and one out in the devil's plains (stonehenge).
