I very much enjoyed playing IST this past weekend. My first attempt was humorously short lived. On my way to the first planet, I encountered two blips of abandoned cargo, both of which turned out to contain illegal goods. Customs not only confiscated them but fined me 500c. I only brought in 116c for my Grain delivery, so I had to turn in my license - end of story! While I found this quite amusing, I wasn’t keen on restarting from scratch so soon. I decided that the results I had experienced had happened in an alternate universe. I re-rolled on the Illegal Goods table to see what happened in ‘my’ universe. I was fined again (200c – all the money I had), but this time they didn’t confiscate the goods. I sold them for a hefty 4535c. Now I was off to a good start! At this point I realized that if I had read the full list of consequences for the Illegal Goods roll, the only logical thing to have done would have been to offer a 100c ‘gift’ to guarantee the 500c fine would be avoided. So, I started a second ship log to see what would have happened had I done so… alternate universe #2. In this case, I was not fined, but the Illegal Goods were confiscated. I made my 116c for the Grain giving me 216 to spend. I visited 2 more planets in this universe, but I was barely scraping by, so I abandoned it and returned to my main Ship Book. I have visited 4 different planets and re-visited 2 of them. I think I’m averaging around a 1,000c profit per trip (that could be wild speculation as my books are nowhere near auditable). I’m looking forward to saving up enough to buy the WASP F51!

Thanks for sharing this Shem, glad to see you're experimenting and enjoying the game. The new updates has a few note worth tweaks to check out.
