I have a clean install of Kubuntu 23.10 and the game fails to launch. When I attempt to run it using the terminal I get the following output:

error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Not really sure what to do at this point, installing the package libsdl2-image-2.0-0 with apt didn't fix it. Have I missed something simple or is something borked with either my system or the release?

Failed to check if my laptops CPU supports SSE4.2, it doesn't. As usual the issue sat between the keyboard and the chair.

I got the same error on Ubuntu 22.04 but when I checked my CPU seems to support SSE4.2 just fine.

Huh, not sure then. If you haven't tried installing the SDL stuff through apt like OP did, then it's probably that; otherwise, manually setting up the DOS version in DOSBox (or a fork) is your best bet for now, sorry :(

Yeah, I just installed dosbox manually and the game ran great. A bit of a pain to type in the path and everything, but at least it's something! I tried installing libsdl and it said it was already installed.
