TAB allows you to open your inventory, view items in your inventory, and view your current objective. TAB again to close your inventory. 

Left click on an item to pick up the item.

Right click on an object to use an item on it. 

Shift allows you to run. 

(Hint. Interact with the VHS player instead of the TV).
