First, a question to other Itch desktop app users: have you been able to download/update the game through the desktop app? I was able to a while back but I'm on a new computer and have found that I can't use the app to manage a lot of the games I had before, including this one. When I try to install, the selection for the download to install has no options (pictures below). If this isn't an issue on my end, but rather the current version not being compatible with the desktop app, would HypnoChanger mind looking into this? I don't really have the information to say for sure, but it might be as simple as not having it tagged as a Windows (and/or other systems) download, since the Spiral Clicker download is tagged, and works fine with the app.
