Prologue Review and Theories

Hi everyone!!

I just finished playing the Prologue and I have to say--Wow! Everything was so well made that if you haven't yet played it, I highly recommend it. I personally am not someone who was invested in the development of the game until today. I heard about it a while ago, but I never followed up on it, and somehow I found my way back to it. But anyway, I want to note down my observations so I could see what I thought from beginning to end.

There are a few notes I want to comment on about the content of the game--some theories and stuff I was fascinated with. The following section will contain spoilers, so if you have not played the game, please return to this post after playing it!

First I want to start with something I observed when I first played the game. The Ultimate Liar, Eva, did not reveal her ultimate until about mid-way through the prologue. I found this fact fascinating because, despite her Ultimate, she has not lied about anything yet. This leads me to a theory I have- that she may be lying about something different or bigger than we imagine. Or perhaps her Ultimate is itself a lie. Not sure!

Second, many of the Ultimate students, despite how they are described in the beginning, do sort of seem self-absorbed. One thing this game does a good job with is establishing characters with realistic behaviors. I love that because it feels so modernized and well-rounded.

Third, I LOVE THE CHARACTERS. They are all extremely unique and they don't fit into the stereotypes that you would expect. I feel like their designs are all so well made. I specifically like how their outfits actually reference their abilities. I feel as if in the original Danganronpa games, not every outfit felt related to the character's abilities. Also BUFF GIRL WOOO

Fourth, the voice actors are absolutely amazing! I love how good they were at expressing the emotions that they were expected to provide. One example that I admire is when they discover the dummy body and everyone freaks out--those shrieks were horrific (in a good way)! Though I was wondering if Grace is meant to be Australian/European or American. She switches accents at times, but I still love her character nonetheless.

Fifth, there were so many modern references that I loved seeing. For example- the Ultimate Drag Racer has a specific voice line related to Scooby from Scooby Doo. I thought that was such a funny detail, it had me cackling. Another example that I absolutely love is when the Ultimate Lawyer was talking about the dummy's wounds and he mentioned the twenty-eight stab wounds. Boy that had me dying, that Connor from Detroit: Become Human reference was SO GOOD. Though it kinda does make me wonder why the Ultimate Lawyer got so passionate all of a sudden, it could've been because it was his passion but I kinda wonder if it's because he's somehow related to the victim.

Sixth, I noticed that some of the Ultimates had an animal assigned to them. Either via their outfit or somewhere on their person. The Ultimate Debater has a snake, The Ultimate Liar has a crow or raven, The Ultimate Fencer has a swan, The Ultimate Matchmaker has a flamingo, The Ultimate Music Producer has an alligator (?), The Ultimate Makeup Artist has a chameleon, The Ultimate Lawyer has a sheep, The Ultimate Influencer has a butterfly, The Ultimate Drag Racer has a wolf, The Ultimate Golfer has a bunny, The Ultimate Ship Captain has a dragon, and Tozu a goat. I probably missed some Ultimates but I couldn't really see references to animals in some of them. I wonder if this will play into anything.

For example, during the class trial we saw the Ultimate Lawyer's more extreme side. I'm wondering if the sheep is to symbolize a "wolf in sheep's clothing" since they were suspicious of him by the end of the prologue. I'm wondering if the snake from the Ultimate Debater is a reference to the bible since this game also has some references to that too.

Seventh, I personally ship The Ultimate Lawyer and the Ultimate Fencer (if they kill each other I'll feel very embarrassed for saying this). There's just something about the Lawyer's tenderness and the Fencer's cowardness that just click so well for me. I'm hoping to see drama stirred by the Matchmaker.

I predict that these Ultimates will be victims:

- Ultimate Gamer
-Ultimate Fencer
- Ultimate Cosmetologist (Makeup Artist)
- Ultimate Drag Racer
- Ultimate Music Producer
-Ultimate Golfer
-Ultimate Ship Captain
-Ultimate Historian

I predict these Ultimates will be culprits:

- Ultimate Influencer (kinda feel like he might be a victim too)
- Ultimate Lawyer
- Ultimate Matchmaker
- Ultimate Marksman (I feel like he might be one of the survivors)

Who I think will survive:
-Ultimate Debater
- Ultimate Blacksmith
-Ultimate Entrepeneur
- Ultimate Liar

A long post and I'm probably missing more details that I wanted to talk about but that's it for now. Very excited to see how the story pans out!
