Doing a pure magic playthrough.
This is true HARDmode

So far I have only done fire and lightning magic, both feel pretty weak. Perhaps a buff in the next patch? Mage Lona is basically dead if someone gets in her face.

If Eccma is listening, perhaps we could get some sort of option to stun or crowd control people?

nope.  magic is already super OP confirmed.... even they are nerfed alot time already.

i dont want buff it again

I'll keep buffing the WIS stat and try to adapt my playstyle then.

Any pointers?

yeah one theres a few enemies in the game that eat magic for breakfast they are mainly high level orkind (shamans/priests)  you will want at least 44 wis as a timid character before weapons to deal with these adequately since they will just eat fireballs for breakfast

See, that might be my problem
I was only at 10 WIS and bandits were eating fireballs like nothing else.
Anything with a bow rapid fire interrupts your casting.

I'm sitting at 10 SUR only to be able to sell smoked meats/dry meals and am questioning whether or not I want to go to 15 so I can just chug blue potions

bandits have like 20-25 sur they will tank magic without significant investment also you can avoid bandit encounters starting around 29+wis investment with talk (requires high sta to succeed like >100 sta) ,15 sur is worth it for the perk it offers 20 lets you dismantle most traps and make cheese, as for wis orkind particularly shamans have very high sur like 40 of it so you need more wis to not just have most of your damage negated waterstaff is useful for fast enemies but if you manage to master command queuing the lightning staff is good but requires extreme sur investment to not just splatter yourself with it the 15 sur perk doubles the chance of neutral encounters so more likely to get priest(donate 11000 tp to reduce world difficulty by 10), beggar, refugee transport/camp encounters

lastly theres some quest speech checks and unlocking all of them requires 20 wis trait points weapon armour and timid wis do not count towards this check
