Dear beginners and frustrated player, welcome to a short guide for maximizing Level Ups and Combat Performance.

1. Jack-of-all-Trade builds for Eyvind generally suck!  You always need one defining powerfull stat for your Hero to succed. Specialize and stick with it. The Game got so many save slots avaible and is still short enough to play multiple hero builds. Let show a few succesfull examples for beginners:

a) "Warriror":   Str. 8  Agi 5  End 5;   A pure Damage Build. Let's your hero succed in all Str-Checks.

b) "Barbarian": Str 7  Agi 7  End 4;   Less durable but probably best build to savescum the very first Boss.

c) "Bard": STR 5  AGI 4  END 5  CHA: 6+;  More Difficult, Get the extra CHA Point from Witer's charming quest right after the Flirt-Tutorial. Raise AGI to 5 or CHA to 8 (better prices) asap.  Raising INT by 1 o 2 points may be beneficial. Or just go for CHA and END only, your choice.  Charisma Heros are the only somewhat JoaT- Builds.  You will struggle in many Boss-Battle but at least you get the CHA to buy lots of HP/MP Potions and potentially more MP (if you invest in INT) for Healing and Magic Attacks.

"mage"/"warlock" Builds are pretty difficult to pull of...They ar definitly not recommend for the first playthrough,  Once you reach the Snowy Mountain Area you need a small amount of  STR (at least 5) to struggle against grap/hold attacks. If you stay at STR 3 it's very difficult to escape a bearhug...

2. Stats:  DEF / END is the most helpful stat at the moment, If you found a trinket or questitem to boost you DEF -> use it.  You should always start you adventurre with at least END 5 if you hate dying. STR is the most reliable/best? Stats in terms of Damage. INT is the weakest but complements CHA, END or AGI  Builds with low STR pretty well.  Increasing you HP/MP by 10 points for 3 levelpoints is pretty wasteful and can ruin your character if you pick this option more than once.

You need at least 5 points of a stat to beat the lowest Stats-checks, Exception are Str and INT who need at least 6. In the long run you will need at least one Stat that get close to 10.

3. Early Powerleveling: Just go to the area before the Bull-Village and wrestle the young bull warriors and kill slimes for a few days. You can easily use them to level up to Level 10 or higher (15 is max for the beginning). Press TAB (or whatever button) for "fast fowards" while fighting so you don't need to read the text message all the time. Heros  with high STR or CHA got the advantage. can be done in less than an hour.

The most important quest at the tavern is about Witer's Sleeping Habits. It's avaible after seven days. Solve it asap to learn a new skill. Don't sell materials too early except Bull-Hair, you need certain Item for Quest and more importantly: to upgrade your Sword! (Don't give away the "Knights -Badge"! Remeber that).

4. a) Manage the cooldown of your Abilties carefully: After you use BIND UP to heal, think carefully if you still got enough MP left for another BIND UP or use an MP Potion. BIND UP is your best Healing Skill , your ace to turn the tide, and scales with INT and END.  HP Potions are rather weak and require a certain amount of DEF to actually matter. b) There is at least one Boss in the Game who is able to charge up his attack; if you got the text message that the Boss is chargin up or the combat-screen flashes, you should use DEFENSE to avoid instant death. c) HP/MP Boost: Once the Bath-house on the tavern is avaible, you can temporarly boost your Max. HP or MP. very helpful for difficult Bossfights.

5. Spend you money: Once you got money to buy important stuff (pickaxe/permit) or nice items to boost your stats, you may just use it right away. If you spend all the money on item and food, Enemies cannot steal your money if you got nothing to steal after loosing a rnd battle.

Don't forget about Beer and Rum, they refill your MP outside of Combat, while Jerky refill your HP. Very important for Dungeons.
