Why did you make this game?

Funny story here, actually. You see, I bought a Flappy Bird clone game on a home console, and absolutely hated it. No, I mean I really hated it, to a point where I was actually getting angry with myself, and the developers of whomever made that particular clone. That's basically when I decided to create my own clone game, for my own personal enjoyment.

So, does that mean SidD is a clone of Flappy Bird?

Originally, yes. That was my intention. However, somewhere along the lines, I wanted to change up the formula. Instead of creating a generic clone of a game that was already pretty simplistic in design, I decided to add physics, and collision to the obstacles. Here's a short video demonstration of how physics affect the Flappy Bird formula.

However, with the added inclusion of physics, I realized that I could expand upon this genre in entirely new ways. Things such as navigating through an endless and random asteroid field, or spiralling around a black hole, were now made possible. Sure, it's the same 'flap' formula we've all grown accustomed to, but with a new physics-based twist. Whether this makes SidD a clone game or not, is up to you. Though to me personally, I see it as more of a natural evolution of the genre.

How much does SidD cost?

Personally, I don't think early access should warrant any kind of price tag, since as a consumer, you never know just what it is you're buying into. Like, what if the developers give up, and never release the final product? What if the game sucks, and you end up wasting your money on what is a broken, buggy mess? That's why I decided to release SidD as a free download. Right now, it's still in an alpha state, and really isn't worth a price tag. However, if you're interested in supporting me, you're able to contribute your own custom amount to this project. Whether you think it's worth $0 or $10, is entirely up to you.

What's included in this version?

In short, not much. There's not even a scoreboard yet, nor is there any music. There's no end screen, or anything at all beyond the core gameplay. If I'm being honest, the current state of SidD is kind of bad, and empty.

So wait, why put SidD on the market, if it's lacking content?

I wanted to get this out there as soon as possible. To garner as much early support as I can, and use whatever feedback I get to further the development. The current goal isn't to make money, but to rather get a large userbase, even if they only play it once, and never again. Really, I'm still loosely in the idea phase, with nothing but the core groundwork being finished.
