I recently bought the Hex Paper Pro font by SJR for my map designs. It's a small thing but does exactly what it says on the tin. https://ghalev.itch.io/hexpaper-pro
I thought I'd share one tidbit I learned when using it in Word 2013. This may also work in Word 365 but I don't have that product. John mentions that you may see double lines between each row of hexes, mainly on screen. I did have these and they also appeared in the print. The advice to remove them was a little confusing. It may be aimed at earlier versions of Word or other word processors. For me it was fixed this way.
In your Word document find the Home tab of the menu bar. In the Paragraph section, click the icon in the lower right corner to expand the paragraph details. On the Indents and spacing tab, set the Spacing Before and After values to 0 pt (0 points). If you already have your hex text in the document, be sure to select all text (<CTRL> A) before you make the change.
