Hi Everybody
First post here. Currently I'm working on the art for a game project called NUMEHEX, a retro NES game inspired by Sunsoft stuff like MasterBlaster and Fester's Quest with some movie 80s nostalgia thrown in. Nothing groundbreaking, but it's been a lot of fun. You can check out what we managed to finish for the NEStaglia game jam a couple weeks ago here. https://superflounder.itch.io/numehex
Thought I would do an art post since a lot of what I'm doing now may not make it into the final game, since we're still hashing out plot/game mechanics/ you name it lol. I guess these are kind of teasers to see if people like what we're going for, and also we would love some feedback on the style. You can see some images are simpler than others which really depends on how "authentic" a look we're going for. I'll give a little plot outline, but its very basic since so much is up in the air. :P
In NUMEHEX, you're an average teenager in your average american town.
One day you and your friends enter a mysterious cave where there's a creepy statue wrapped in a strange medalion.
But someone can't keep themselves from giving it a nudge.
After which you wake up from having been sick in bed with a mysterious illness, and you find out an earthquake hit the area.
And you go to find your friends. Tracy- First frame should be "Hey! so they finally..."
Oliver - First frame is "Alright! You're better..."
And Mina - first frame is "Oh, You're up.."
So yeah, there's a few things that need a few answers. Let me know what you think of the style and overall direction. Even more NES, meaning minimal, or should just aim for a NES-ish game?
