Copyright related question

I would like to know how you got the permission to make this game off of Spongebob's intellectual property. Did you contact the creators asking for permission? Or is there something in the copyright clause stating that you can use their property? I was thinking of doing a personal project using Spongebob characters, but I'm not too knowledgeable of copyright laws. Thank you.

Parody is considered fair use; https://copyrightalliance.org/ca_faq_post/parody-considered-fair-use-satire-isnt...

Fair use doesn't provide protection when a product affects the marketability of the subjected work. I think we can all agree that a game that depicts a child cartoon in a crude game about drug use wouldn't be ruled on favorably.

I've never seen such a ruling or law for a noncommercial piece. I've seen porn parody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Fortnite which ARE commercial products, so why would a original asset game that parodies for noncommercial purposes lose legal protection?
