It's been a year, and with the release of v1.5 it's the perfect time for a sale! Aether's been evolving at a rapid pace over the past year and I'm excited about the state it's in. So here's the rundown.
The new core resolution mechanics of 1.5 have made Aether quicker and easier to get into so that players and the Narrator can spend more time figuring out the fun things they want to do and have clearer concepts of how to do them.
Character creation has changed to combine duplicated mechanics and make a more clear experience. The Arcana and Emblems of previous versions have been combined into hybrid character templates, and sections for 80 sample character abilities and creating your own character abilities are now available to help guide the play experience even further.
With the new unified encounter system, you no longer need to know two different rulesets to run different types of encounters. Everything interlaces and runs on the same core structure with statblocks for creatures being the only addition required to run a combat scenario. The included encounter sheet allows you to run entire encounters with one page front and back.
Creating adversaries for your players and running them in combat has been made quicker, easier and with particular attention payed to statblock organization you now have access to full turn orders and cycles for them as well.
Not only did 1.5 get updated rules, but I also used it as a chance to experiment with and learn some new layout! It's never looked better or been more legible.
Now's the time to try Aether since, from here on out, any changes are going to be quality of life focused rather than focused on structure or rules changes. Pick up a copy, share it around, and enjoy it for its one year anniversary.
