I highly suggest going the no-puzzle route if the first set is a struggle. Puzzles are optional, after all.

Going the non-puzzle path removes puzzle events from the game. You still get other Iris Events

There is already a path to avoid such a thing with her, if certain choices are picked.

I'll look into nickname for bedroom scenes. But as far as the character itself, Jin is his own person and his name is too important to the story for it to be changeable.
