I’m enjoying this game but I got stuck and I think I’m running into some buggy behaviour.
Some details (spoilers!)
I’m having some trouble clicking. Sometimes I click an item in my inventory, and while it’s highlighted, I click a person or another object, and it doesn’t trigger the action I wanted. E.g. when clicking on the bucket full of fish and the fish monger, it starts a conversation instead of her taking the fish off me. It also happens with the bucket of water and the altar, and the hammer and cross. This is especially frustrating when I lose an action point because of it. I had the most trouble with the altar for some reason.
Eventually, I got the required ingredients for the exorcism and combined them, but I’ve used it on everyone on the island with no result. Is clicking the object in the inventory and then clicking on a person the way to exorcise someone?
I really love the vibe, art style, and story telling in this game. It might be my favourite so far. I just wish I could finish it!
Ohhh I think I encountered that bug as well. It was when I was trying to move a tile but one of the itch website labels was overlapping with it. At the moment, this can be resolved by playing the game in full screen but yeah, ideally it wouldn’t happen at all.
I already have in mind to add a few optional hints to the game, and a pop up if you fill all the slots but have the wrong solution (currently it does nothing, so you could sit there unsure for a while). There’s an ending screen that only happens if you get the solution right!
Thank you for your feedback and for playing :)
Hello! I just want to say thanks to the organisers of this jam for the interesting constraints, which helped me make my very first game. I started making it outside of the timeframe, so I’m not submitting it to be judged, but thought I’d post it here anyway.
The game is called Margaret’s Spoons and it’s an otome. I thought a visual novel at 84x48 px was ridiculous so I wanted try it. It’s accidentally on theme (the grind) as well.
Hello! I'm a musician that enjoys visual novels. Actually, I was just here looking for some games but I stumbled upon this jam. I have a song about death, it's called "Jacket". If anyone wants to use it in their game (for free), let me know and I'll send it to you. I have an instrumental version as well.
If you like any of my other music I can send that too. I have instrumental versions of everything and some songs are instrumentals to begin with. https://fanfickk.bandcamp.com/
