This is great! I'd love to push buttons in this with some of my fight game friends.

I'd be interested in peeking at the code for this game - if you make it open source, I'd be really happy. Thanks for the game!

[default controls, facing right] You tap D, S, D+S+attack. You want to hold S once you press it and then press forward and attack at once. When you're doing motion inputs, try to press the attack button at the same time as the last directional input. Hope that helps!

Fwiw this kind of input (fighting gamers call it the "dragon punch" after Ryu's move) is actually a little easier on keyboard than it is on gamepad! though it might help to move the keys to something more comfortable than WASD.

games like GGST use about 5 frames of throw protection on wakeup and after blocking - it seems like a fairly moral design decision.

plz make a game

Picked this up on Omega Satan Sale, busily prepping my first game. Thanks for everything, this one is a keeper

Hello,
I encountered what seemed to be an input glitch. I'm using an XInput fight stick for the game and most inputs are working as expected, but for whatever reason the slowdown function seems to also be bound to the Circle button (Dash) - and it works the same as the slowdown as if I had pressed the touchpad button. i.e if it's set to "toggle" in the menu, the slowdown will remain turned on after I dash.

I don't think the game is meant to slow down in this manner and it's a little awkward to play. It seems the input setting menu is not fully functional but hitting "default controls" didn't fix it.

Anyways, that's all. Everything else is lovely so far!! Blade Sight is so cool...

You can still make it.

yea. this one's really good. one of the characters had my name and so it felt a little weird to read - but it's good when things hit home like that. means it was "made up out of real stuff," as they say.

maybe it's okay to cling together. it doesn't have to be forever... but it could be for long enough to last.

anyways, thanks for the game!! very nice work. i liked "sisters in purgatory" a normal amount. i wanna play that one...

Jump Cutoff determines the minimum height of your jump if you have the variable height option turned on. The higher it's set, the smaller the minimum jump is (i.e, if you tap the button you'll get a tiny jump).

I tried to set my jump cutoffs so that a simple tap of the button sufficed for most of the jumps and holding the button worked for places the player might want extra height or control.

Edit: I tried your controls, and while I would certainly not make this a character's default jump arc, this is basically what gliding as Knuckles feels like in the Genesis games. But Knuckles can stop gliding to land on platforms... and I think your Kit could use that as well, haha.

that's normal! working as intended!
