alternate title of the game: kin seek therapy challenge (IMPOSSIBLE) (99.99% FAIL)
[i jest, i jest.]
SPOILERS BEWARE!!
i started playing the game blind and managed to get ending 1 without the knowledge of the stats so hooray to me
playing this game from kin's perspective puts a refreshing twist on TMD because i saw a lot of my middle-school self in kin... the delulu craving for romance, the vague feelings of self-loathing [before there was a word for those feelings] pushed at bay, etc etc.
it was like looking in a mirror and uncomfortably so; as someone who's BEEN a Kin, it's honestly refreshing to see a depiction of a mentally unwell adolescent that isn't just "i am depressed 24/7/365" and actually has depth. i love how unapologetically MESSY kin is. it just makes her more... real.
i... have one major doubt, though. and a minor one.
ONE- is it just kin's rose-tinted view of aoi that shapes him to be some kind of tragic heartthrob? because i could see aoi reasonably having some backstory, but if you've played the original TMD, we know he... isn't exactly innocent, or rootable for. Ueda Aoi is going in my shit list and he knows why.but yes, i do wonder if there's a depth to why he acts the way he does, and seeing how he acts after you tell kyouko and she goes to find him [being vague on purpose here] is honestly kinda funny because LMAO GET BEAT DOWN NEPO BABY
TWO- I love KiRa☆RiN but i honestly get a little confused as to their identity. i'm trans myself so seeing Kira was a major "HELL YEAH" moment, but i get a little confused, as they're clearly not a boy, yet use the title of 'prince'. just wanna know their identity so i can make them my whole personality for a month. shoutout to my favourite gender-ambiguous chuunibyou
overall, I really liked this game and i eagerly await any future releases from you, both in this series and in general. Keep it up!
PS: not sure if it's a bug but advancing dialogue by using the space bar makes the sprite + bg disappear for a split second which adds to the general unsettling aura of the game. peak fiction 10/10
NO-SPOILER REVIEW [TW FOR SENSITIVE TOPICS]
So I'm a follower of angeluscult on their instagram [follow them, follow them NOW] and so i thought i knew what to expect when it came to their content...
everybody point and laugh because i was wrong.
everyone in this game is some variation of unhinged and i can almost guarantee to you that a therapist would go home and blow their brains out after holding a session with just 1 [one] of them. you'd think this is hyperbole but all of them are at the very least lacking self-worth and at worth could kill you in the blink of an eye because you annoyed them
(i forgive them for their crimes they're so silly)
ofc the game is FUNNY, but it's also surprisingly nuanced for such a relatively short playtime [close to 3 hours]
the characters aren't just there to set up a joke or something, they're there with their own plotline and existence to get invested in. although sariel is our protagnist, his companions [both willing and not] often match him up or even exceed him in some cases!
several moments in this game got me gooooood...
tl;dr- this is peak queer fiction 11/10
keep going i need more peak
as a bisexual veteran [since 2019 and going strong] i thank you, comrade, for making this quiz.
though it gave me an unfortunate flashback to a time in 9th grade where my friends said that bisexuals had to choose 2 genders to be into [???]
it was a fun experience. i love the graphics too, very bouncy and would taste like sandpaper if i ate them [/pos]
we need more awareness spread, and i'm glad to see it here
much love and gratefulness from my end to yours!
words cannot express how much i love this game. liev latane is my pookie wookie schnookums bear [/j] and i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE his characterisation in this game! i appreciate MC's gender options [laughs in gay] and the realistic depictions of anxiety and panic attacks! the point system is a complete throwback to oldschool otome games that manages to be relevant in the game's context. liev's characterisation is, as i said earlier, one of the highlights in this game, and it's astounding how almost every choice you make can change his dialogue [much like reality]. this is genuinely one of my favourite visual novels ever, and i really hope to see more projects from you!
TL;DR- this is peak yandere fiction. 143/10
