One cause I found for the black screen is a save in an older version (0.1.5.3 hotfix), where the save was in the beach, and, as you know, that was changed in the newest (free) version (0.1.7.1). I know data such as exp and save location translated to the newer version since that’s what happened to me. It is possible that the new version is trying to look for the save but cannot find it because it was changed.

I’m not sure if this is the case for Android, as I am on windows.

Do both versions have different save systems? (eg ver 0.1.5.3 hotfix had a different save system for the beach than 0.1.7.1)

If so, try saving in the forest in the earlier version

for those struggling (heh) with the black screens, I wanna know something. Do yall have the previous version installed on your device? (Both android and windows)

judging on the update system, will my progress be able to transfer to the next upcoming update/hotfix? (I got 100 atk and almost 100k exp I don’t want to lose lol)

somehow my save system from 1.5.3 hotfix transfered over to this version, but i doubt it was intentional

they know. they cant do anything about it because they "only have funding for the game OR legal battles, not both"

just close the game and boot it up again, that's what worked for me

hit the tentacles indicated by the arrow. you can parry the incoming tentacles by blocking, or you can dodge them altogether

so im also not sure if this is intentional, but when you hold block before a ledge and the momentum of you walking carries you over so you're falling, you're stuck in that falling/blocking sequence (a slow one at that) and can only unblock once you reach the ground. After landing, if you press any button other than Q (or the set keybind for block), you will be stuck in that position. I've used this to get through the tentacles on the josie boss battle but it's frustrating to get out of.

For the Josie boss fight, it is possible to exit the fighting area when one of her shorter tentacles spawns near the entrance. Is it possible to place a tentacle there? It fits the vibe and also prevents the player from leaving.

not sure if it is the same for you (if you're on windows), but right-clicking the file and clicking "extract all" (not sure if im recalling this right) would work

i believe it's a kind of punish system
if you attack but you are supposed to block, you get punished for it

i solved the bear boss by dashing before they hit, so that might be the best course of action for them

what device are you on?

yall btw if your screen is blacking out on windows (i am not exactly sure about the android situation), it may be an issue with the previous version. If you have any saves from the previous version that are at the beach, you will be met with a black screen. To prevent this (and for some reason transfer your progress, exp, etc.) just save in any of the forest levels (EDIT: do the saving stuff in the 0.1.5.3 version).
