Been a big fan of the series, but this one feels off

did you get a new writer? because the writing isn't as good as it used to be
(edit: I said is, when I meant isn't. the writing is nowhere as good as it was in the first game)

I've had games crash my graphics card, but never have I seen it crash my entire pc to the point of needing to unplug and replug. I am begging for more optimization because this game seems decently interesting in concept, but it is absolutely running horribly on my pretty decent pc. 

There appears to be a softlock in the west hallway. the room icons just kinda disappear and I'm stuck eternally in the west hallway, like it's some kind of devil, that traps people in places, eternally.
