does he end up remembering the situation or does he forget everything? followup question, does it affect the gameplay severely?

Im at the part where I'm deciding whether or not to let Caleb live, if I let him live will he remember Cain and Abel? or does he forget or just stay comatose? (this is the only spoiler I am okay with :p)
