I see many visitors from Arabic-speaking countries, so I'd like to add Arabic (right-to-left) to Yop2D. I can prepare the translation, but I need native Arabic speakers to proofread it (even 30 minutes helps, for example checking a few screens).

If you'd like to see Yop2D in Arabic or help, please reply here or message me on Discord. Thank you! 🙏

Hi, I realize that many are still using old versions of the engine, I invite you to regularly click on the button located in the startup interface. You will be able to download the new version directly from GitHub, the place where Yop2D is built.  The project is in continuous development; we add improvements every day, as well as bug fixes and ergonomic improvements.

Hi, have you tested the new version of yop2d on a phone? It usually works well, the user experience is good.Since yesterday, based on user feedback, I'm still making adjustments to make it as pleasant as possible on a phone. You can join us and share your experience, which will help us improve the engine faster. So if this adventure interests you, join us on Discord. You'll also be able to test new versions before everyone else.

Hi, I'm happy to announce that the new version of the Yop2D engine is available for download. I hope you will like all the changes.

Have fun.

P.S.: A little "like" helps improve the search engine's ranking. Thanks in advance.

Hi, the engine is ready to go. Lots of changes await you. I've created three small, complete games to help beginners understand how engines work; I just need to add graphics to make them more appealing. When this work is finished, I will build it and post an APK here.I added a file to the engine for statistics; there are explanations on the start page. This will allow me to know exactly how many users there are, motivate me and adapt the changes accordingly. You can disable it and verify that it is not working by pressing and holding on the yop2d version number which is just above. If you keep the statistics, that's great for me and my morale :) See you very soon!

Hi! I find your work really stunning. I'm reaching out to ask if you'd allow me to use a few of your assets for creating example projects. It's for yop2d, a free no-code game engine that runs on Android. I saw your license, but I prefer to ask just to be courteous. Let me know if that's okay with you. Thanks in advance and great job on your work!

If you watch the video on a phone in landscape mode, you'll get a good look at the engine. Hopefully, you'll like the modifications. When Yop2D is available in the new version 4, I will post the information here. Have fun.

Hi everyone!

The engine is still evolving, and the new graphical interface is now finished! There are just a few more tests to complete before it becomes available in the next version. Everything has been designed with mobile phones in mind, while still providing full support for tablets as before. To make all these changes possible and keep everything well organized, many elements have been moved and reorganized, along with the creation of several new menus. We’ve also added hitbox support, with settings available directly in the Property Inspector and directly on the Canvas (Scene). And when the new version is released, there may be even more new features waiting for you!

A big thank you to everyone who has participated and helped along the way. ❤️

Hi everyone!

I’m currently modifying Yop2D to improve its integration with mobile phones.

Yop2D was originally designed mainly for tablets, but because of the requests from users, I’m now modifying the engine to make it work better on phones too.The modified version is not finished yet, but I’d like to start testing it and find problems or imperfections that I might not notice myself. If you want to help, you can download the test version and try it on different phone models. Having more devices to test on will help make the improvement process much faster.

And of course, sharing your feedback, problems, or suggestions would be really cool and helpful!

Thanks to everyone who wants to help! ❤️

Project GitHub Repository

Hi, yes I'm currently making changes to allow for a more pleasant experience with a phone. I have to change a lot of things, phase 1 is finished, phase 2 is progressing. I hope to finish quickly so I can get back to proposing more physical and object components. The progress bar is finished and functional. I've also modified the assets page. It's now also possible to listen to music and sounds in this window.

I am aware that there are no tutorials yet and that it is confusing for beginners, to help you in the blueprint interface you have two buttons. The first will allow you to see your nodes and their connection in another form (pseudocode) and for example show it to an AI which will explain where your logic is not good. And if there is no solution, perhaps it is a deficiency or a bug. The second button lists all (or almost all) of the nodes and gives a brief explanation of their function. If the translation into your language is not perfect, I apologize; I am using a translator that may not be the best.

In the yop2d startup interface there is a button at the top which, in case of a crash or bug, can help me solve the problems that the engine encounters. I test as much as possible, but I'm unable to test everything on my own. And since I do a lot of updates, it's possible I might not notice a mistake. You can copy and paste the block of text that appears in the debug window.

Salut,

The new version of yop2d is online. 1.578

Have fun

From the Blueprint interface, you can insert one scene into another; the nodes are operational, this part of the update is complete.

Even more!!

To go even further in the new version, I added a button that allows you to create an area on your canvas with the scene to be imported. You have a scene selection popup. You can also later modify the target scene in the property inspector. I'm not finished with this update yet, so I'm not going to post the new version today after all. I will post a final version.

The secret is that the Instantiate Scene (Prefab) node we just implemented is exactly this universal generator (Spawner) that lets you do everything. By allowing you to summon an entire scene as a simple object, you've just unlocked all these mechanics without needing a specific node for each action:

Firing a projectile: You create a small "Bullet" scene containing your projectile's image and a "Move continuously" logic node. In your player's Blueprint, when you press the shoot button, you simply use Instantiate Scene to summon the "Bullet" at the player's coordinates. It will fly off on its own.

Dropping loot: You create a "Gold Coin" scene. In your enemy's Blueprint, right before the node that destroys it upon defeat, you place an Instantiate Scene node to make the "Gold Coin" appear exactly at its X and Y coordinates.

Visual effects: You create an "Explosion" scene that only contains your animation and a node to destroy itself at the end. You instantiate it at the exact moment of an impact.

That's the true power of Prefabs: a single instantiation node is enough to dynamically spawn any preconfigured game element.

La mise à jour sera disponible aujourd'hui, normalement sous le numéro 550.

Amusez-vous.

Added languages: German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese .

Have fun.

Hi, I've added the missing translation keys. If you notice any errors, please contact him.

New version with a link to download the latest version from GitHub. Now you can perform updates.

There are two links: Telegram and Discord.

Hi, the new version includes fixes for some nodes.

Roadmap

🔴 Phase 1: Fixes and Technical Debt Cleanup (High Priority)

Fixing broken nodes: Repair defective nodes (e.g., NoeudActionClignotement and others) that were impacted by the "lost target" bug (__OBJET_IMPLIQUE__).

Overhaul of hardcoded translations: Track down and replace all hardcoded strings in recent files so they all use Traducteur.get("key"), to facilitate internationalization without having to dig into the Java code.

Camera display fix: In CanvasEditeur.java, move the drawing of the camera rectangle to the very end of the render loop so it always appears on top of the objects (essential for visually managing parallax).

🟡 Phase 2: Touch Ergonomics Improvements (Editor Comfort)

Blueprint Navigation (Pinch-to-Zoom): Implement the ScaleGestureDetector in CanvasBlueprint.java (as is already the case in CanvasEditeur.java) to zoom intuitively by pinching the screen.

Floating tool window (Editing Popup): Create a small draggable floating panel in the scene editor, grouping quick actions (Move, Scale, Rotate) near the selected object, to avoid going back and forth with the top menu.

Assets panel overhaul: Replace the current system of folder creation and separate display with a nested and visually more appealing tree view (TreeView), allowing the contents of subdirectories to be seen directly in the list.

Snapping tool: Develop a system for perfect object alignment on a grid or relative to the edges of other assets to prevent unintentional overlapping when creating levels.

🟢 Phase 3: New "Core" Features (Advanced Mechanics)

The Instantiation Revolution (Scenes as Layers/Objects):

Upgrade the rendering engine (VueJeu.java) to allow the superposition of multiple scenes on the fly (layer system).

Create a "Prefabs" (Templates) system: be able to save a complete scene (an enemy with its logic, a complex object) and instantiate it in another scene just like a simple ObjetBase.

Physics Engine Evolution: Enrich MoteurPhysique.java (which is currently very basic) to offer more dynamic physical behaviors (forces, masses, friction, advanced bounce types).

Dialogue system improvement: Add advanced visual parameters (customizable background image, color, opacity/alpha level) to the text display system.

Animation Editor Evolution: Enrich the small animation creation window by adding thumbnail previews and new transition settings.

Separate Functions Editor (Global Accessibility): Allow independent Blueprint scripts (files stored in the functions folder) to have direct read/write access to the object list, tags, and global variables of the application from the node editor interface

If you're here, you probably share my dream: creating 2D games directly from an Android tablet, without needing a PC or writing complex code. I built Yop2D entirely on my tablet because I couldn't find a free engine that fit my needs. Today, I'm thrilled to share it with you.

⚠️ Important Note: Yop2D is designed and highly optimized for Android tablets. Because of the complex visual scripting interface (Blueprints) and the scene editor, it does not work well on smartphones.

Yop2D is still actively in development. It's a passion project, and that's exactly why I opened this space. I want to build this engine with you.
