I can feel that, but the goal was to put more emphasis on the towers, with different type and upgrades, the player having to protect them and manage them (think Orc Must Die! gameplay loop). Sadly we didn't have time to implement all those ideas, but we are all very happy with what we did in a week end :)
We wanted to put more emphasis in the tower management, like a tower defense with platform in a vertical setting (different towers types, placement, upgrade etc). In the end we just managed to implement base elements of gameplay, but we are all very proud of the result :D
