I'm very glad I paid the money I did and bought the Maelstrom engine to play COAS. I've put many hours into it and plan to do more, and it's been very fun. I only experienced 2? crashes in about 40 hours of gameplay, and the bugs that do exist haven't been super severe for the most part. Given the many ways one can play City of Abandoned Ships nowadays with the 30 different repackages, this is the best one.

One thing that would have sold me sooner on this (because I hesitated heavily) is some kind of list of the different features of the mod, in this case ERAS 2, because it's hard to know exactly what the mod does, besides adding new ships and starting characters. There are also a couple of features I'd have loved to see, but alas they're probably very hard to do :D things like not "fully dying" if your ship is sunk, so you can continue to play the save without having to reload (eg your ship sinks and you wash ashore the nearest town, having lost your belongins, maybe a skill allows you to save your officers and your personal chest aboard your ship. Something somewhat similar to the start of the COAS questline or the Flying Dutchman questline). I think something like that would be a sale defining thing :D

Regardless thank you for your hard work! I'll continue enjoying the game :D

Any time there's a bounty on the character's head, bounty hunters from the nation that put the bounty can confront the player, both at land and sea, with increasing frequency as the bounty increases. There are 2 bugs, 1 which might not be so:

1) Potential bug: When confronted at sea, bounty hunters completely ignore your displayed flag and attack you without a stealth check even, yet your bounty increases if you're using the "wrong" flag. I don't think this is supposed to happen?

2) Potentially save ending bug: when confronted in land, the guards do nothing about the attack. However, after dispaching the attackers, you can't fast travel anywhere. There "alarm" system goes off, and if you enter any house or building, you're treated as a criminal. You can bypass this by saving and reloading the game or reloading the zone, then the game works properly. If you happen to enter a house to try to fix the situation, the person inside attacks you as if you were a criminal, and regardless of what you do, the guards and nation are not hostile to you, even if it was a friendly nation (such as one that gave you letter of marque). This is, for obvious reasons, extremely annoying.

I apologize if creating the different bug report threads was the wrong call, I assumed you'd prefer separate threads for separate bugs.

THIS IS NOT A SEVERE GAME BREAKING BUG.

During this opening quest, on the night of the character's escape, as you enter the city, you find out it's been overtaken by the spanish. The moment you enter, you should see a woman running towards you and a spanish soldier chasing after her. However, instead, there's a guard NPC (regular guard npc) from Spain who calls you spy and attacks you. After killing him, you can see the woman NPC and the soldier NPC who should have confronted you, standing there bugged out. If you then attack the officer, you fight him as normal and the woman talks to you. You are able to continue as normal.

An additional bug is that this soldier at the game respawns and works a normal town NPC, which shouldn't happen. The spanish soldiers inside town (that you are supposed to clear out) are not supposed to respawn or behave as "real" guard NPCs. I can provide a save if necesary right before entering the town.

Hello. I'm aware there's a bug report on this topic already, however it's from over a year ago.

The bug persists. The questline undergoes as follows: 4th mission in the Spanish Quest Line, research the murder of a guy in Havana and the "theft" of his wife by a french agent. Go to murder victim house -> pick up letter -> go to Havana tavern -> talk to maid -> report to vicceroy -> sail to tortuga -> talk to tavern keep -> go to Henri's house (the murderer) -> talk to servant -> come out.

What SHOULD happen is that the murderer is seen running away, we follow him to a beach and kill him, then loot his body and report to the vicceroy.

What happens is that he's just standing there. You can't interact with him. If you shoot him or hit him, he dies and the questline does not complete, but the town guards attack you as normal and he doesn't generate the correct loot. If you try to follow the intended events (run into the dungeon, then into Fish Eye Beach), the player character is frozen in place and can't do anything.

I can provide save files for before the bug and whatever else, I've not done anything that could warrant the questline breaking, it is most likely an ERAS 2 problem. This same bug manifests with the  Austin quest, which I can make a separate report for. In that questline, if you save while the murderer NPC is approaching to talk to you  and you reload, the NPC bugs out and stands there not working in any way.

A similar bug happens in the opening questline for Peter Blood which I'm about to report as well.
