Sorry for the late reply. When you say you start the game and are stuck at the guardhouse, do you mean after progressing to act 1? You aren't supposed to reach the guard house until the very end of the current version, so if you're there shortly after starting the game, that means I fucked something up bad.
If you progressed there the intended way, you don't hide by interacting with anything. Instead you have to avoid the guard's line of sight. You can hide behind the cabinet when he walks down below the boxes, or up to the window. And you can hide below the boxes at the bottom of the map when he's on his way back down (he will see you behind the cabinet when returning from the window)
If the guard is not moving or talking, but it says you need to hide, that's a bug.

Also, glad to see you're still with me, Addren. Sorry for the long wait, I took about a 4 month break from developing. Even so, the other 4 months that I was working on it took a lot longer than I expected for this update.

If you're stuck on the testing screen, use the save file I linked to in the top of the OP.

The camp is supposed to be a place you can lose humanity easily, but it's entirely possible to leave with the same humanity you came with. You can pass time at the shining rock, and need to do so if you want to get the food without getting dirty (using traps). I need to add more ways to lose humanity to the camp though. Idk, I mostly want to move on to the next area, but the camp could still use some more work.

Yes, sorry for the late reply. I am still working on it, but the next update will be disappointing. Lots of behind-the-scenes stuff I've been struggling with that seems simple on the surface.

I uploaded the wrong file, I changed the encryption key and forgor. Shit my pants when I realized my mistake only to come back and find the file had been downloaded already, the link should have a working file in it now, but glad you got it working :) Your old saves should work btw, you can just move the save folder over.
(The cave scene you mentioned is supposed to game over, if that's what you meant by dead-end that's intended.)

This happened because I called the image through non-traditional means, and the "remove unused files for deployment" function flagged it as being unused. You can download the file here: Imagefix Add it to the img/pictures folder  I'll add a new version of the game that's fixed soon.

If you got to act 1, you did everything correctly. The only optional part is whether you take the bucket or not. I'm curious, did you get it all correct on the first try?

I'll look into it for the next version thanks. There's like 6 different versions of that scene so it's been a constant source of bugs.
