The rats are always pointing toward him; if the rat is sitting up, the king is in that rat's column.

Nope, it's all about careful (or sometimes carefully risky) play. You should try to save breaking blocks for the endgame, for example. Also heart scrolls always give you full health, so they're worth more when you have more heart containers. Learn the patterns of the monsters; try to learn how to guess where the rat king or slime king will be. Things like that.

Is there any update on this?

The BW "zine" is version 1.0 but the non-zine PDF is 1.1. What are the differences (besides color)?

I played Fake Chess today, and my opponent and I were puzzled by one thing. The rulebook says "The final piece you capture must be a pawn. " Why is this? It would make more sense to say "the final piece you move must be a pawn", since the checkmate move is always a non-capturing pawn move.

Thanks! I plan on using it with XeTeX, which supports both TrueType and OpenType, and typographic features from AAT, OpenType, and Graphite. I'll have to experiment and see if there are any differences in the hinting.

Why is the TTF version suggested over the OTF version?
