I've been passively interested in this game for a while, having played and appreciated Kitsune Zero.
Platforming (especially Mario-style) is kinda hard, it's nice that there's option to revive and continue play (and even more importantly in my opinion, the medium-difficulty still doesn't punish you for dying other than going back some space and retry - you even keep your coins! Yay)
I use a somewhat uncommon linux setup (okay, it can get -much- weirder than my current OS but for reference, no systemd/elogind/gtk/qt/dbus at all. Most supposedly linux games I get are either made in Ren'Py and work or in something else and uhh. Don't work. This seems to have a portable Mono based setup, the .txt files are trivial to read once you dos2unix them, but the .dll and .exe seem necessary, I tried multiple different setups of deleting these files and then the game wouldn't start :P HOWEVER, I was able to successfully get it all fine both without messing with internal files at all obviously, and also deleting the two Steam-related .so files inside lib64 and then chmod 400'ing the rest inside lib64 directory, since steam isn't installed in the slightest here. The game creates a directory inside $HOME/.local/share/ (or possibly more than one, I have KitsuneGames, KitsuneTails, and SuperBernieWorld and I never played Bernie - or
I don't think I did) but I don't remember when the they appeared. Nevertheless, unlike some engines *cough Unity cough* it doesn't look like there's telemetry mixed in as far as I can see, so yay.)
The levels get pretty hard for me, the first ghost level and the first boss fight were... really difficult, expect some puzzle mixed in. Or maybe I'm just kinda dense ^^;
Yuzu is super cute! The event at end of the initial world was incredibly appealing, Yuzu/Akko so cute! I really, really want to finish the game, but I only barely just best the second boss LOL, gonna take a while for me.
The music is really nice, the art is really nice, I'm liking the story but anxious to continue. The gameplay is good, definitely kinda reminiscent of old SNES platformers but uhhh... more pleasant LOL. The first ghost house has a really cool gimmick with lanterns, felt neat to play. Maybe about 20% of the time I try and jump and miss timing, or I mess up in various ways LOL
It looks like modding is specifically supported, which is *awesome*. I have to wonder how we might see setup for people sharing customs!
I hope see more dances~
