The product itself seems extremely well made and crafted, the art style is appealing, the colours contrast with one another allowing for clear distinction between the background and the enemies.

However, there are aspects that aren't all that appealing to look at. The most important part that there are issues with is the speed of the game. It is way too fast.

The speed of the player is overwhelmingly fast, allowing them to cross from one side of the room to the other in moments. This lack of time between movements do not provide the player with a sense of clarity, allowing enemies who themselves are also way too fast to catch you and kill you in mere instants. As well in the high speeds the camera begins to move in a way that creates a motion blur which partially made me sick.

This speed makes the game incredibly difficult and punishes the player severely with starting from the very beginning, which in itself is not a bad thing but coupled with the speed gives a feeling of frustration in the player. And not one of that it is the player's fault, but instead the fault of the game.

There are other parts though that don't feel complete. The shield in particular felt like a waste of time as it provided almost no gameplay benefits at all, and the double jump from using the shield feels not like a feature of the game, but more like a bug that was not fixed.

Suggestions:

  • Slow the speed of the player and enemies down in order to allow for more precise movement.
  • Adjust the camera so that the movement of the camera does not create a motion blur effect in order to prevent a feeling of sickness.
  • Remove the shield mechanic entirely or adjust it so that there are specific instances where it can be proved useful in combat.
  • The double jump is a good idea, but in order to be easier to execute instead of a hassle adjust it so that the jump button also possesses the ability to execute a double jump.

Strengths- Gives the controls at setup, the gunfire is responsive without too much delay or lagging.

Weaknesses- SMG is considerably less valuable in comparison to the Shotgun. Lacks indication that the screen is movable, at first giving the impression that the camera is in a locked on position. You are immediately thrown into the game without warning, enemies do nothing to the player if contact is made. The screen shakes anytime

Opportunities- Sounds, involving music or sound effects for the interaction with other areas such as the guns make gunshot sounds or a sound effect when any pieces of ammo are picked up. Contact with enemies of any kind could result in a game over. Shotgun would only make the screen shake if it comes into contact with an enemy NOT THE WALLS
Make the game slightly hard, if contact with enemies resulted in a game over. Possibly turning it into more of an arena style shooter using where the player must last as long as possible.

Threats- The screen is not well adjusted to a regular view, as it is set in windowed mode the task bar that is automatically there blocks out the view for certain aspects of the game, such as enemies and the HUD's view is partially blocked. A fix for this is to adjust the view to be partially shorter so that the HUD is visible in windowed mode or adjust it to be played in fullscreen mode
