A couple of people are claiming it's missing credits, and one is specifying for the fonts. Are they just confused? To me it seems like a pretty standard style of pixel font, so I believe you when you say you hand drew them. I just assumed you were like "how does pixel font look? Something like this? Yeah, that works." and moved on with great looking buttons.

Hey, is this asset available for commercial use? I also asked on another of your sprite assets a minute ago. The axe bandit.
By the way, the itch website now has a place to include a license in the asset metadata if you want to add that to your work. It's useful for us on the site to find your work since it's also tied to the search algorithm on itch now. That way your assets will come up when someone uses the full search functionality of the site.
Thanks!
Hey, are these licensed for commercial use?
I'm building a placeholder art collection for myself and I'm restricting it to only assets that can be used commercially (and are AI free) in case I end up shipping a game with one or more of them. I'm just an indie dev that's me and my wife, so there's a chance we may ship with the assets we're collecting. Hence the caution.
I'm also asking your other commenters who made extra sprite sheets for this asset about a decade ago. I kind of love this little dude, and I want to use him as a placeholder for an enemy in my current project.
Thanks!
Hey, are you sharing your work so that anyone can use your sprite sheets?

Hey, I'm an instant fan and bought this today because your style is not just perfect for my wife and my indie projects but also the current sale made it a no-brainer. But I have a question after downloading the packets and everything:
Does this pack also include all of your free tracks, or should I go download those as well?
Thanks! Your work is fantastic, and I'll let you know when one of our games launches with your music included.
I appreciate it!
It must be a very new update to the site, or just not a well known about one, because I've found that the overwhelming majority of assets here don't have it set up in that way. When I first started looking a couple of days I ago using their search function I think I found about a dozen assets that fit my search, but going through the recommendations page after downloading some assets has yielded hundreds that should have if they had just had their license terms set up like this.
So anyway, thanks!
I keep noticing that health bar assets stop at half-hearts and don't do fourths of hearts like the original games that used hearts have done for decades. Is there some, like, legal reason? Is there some fear that Nintendo will sue over quarter-hearts? I think the only Zelda games that have even used half-hearts as the minimum were the 2 on the original NES.
I think, by the way, that quarter hearts make more sense with the necessary size of the heart shape, and how easily it splits into smaller chunks. A 3rds heart would also work if you made each upper lobe of the heart count as 1, and then the bottom counts as 1, so 3 segments in all.
And I do get the "broken heart" visual of the 2 segment heart, but most of the time it isn't even rendered as breaking or anything. It's just half-full with a simple straight split line for minimalism like this one.
None of this is criticism of your work and asset, but just wondering why the other very well established option and any other creative option just never seems to be pursued and included in these sorts of things.
Anyway, awesome asset. Just a little ranty on that. XD
Oh man, this is wild and I may never get back to it, but I'd love to use this art in a board game project I was working on once upon a time. I don't think it would be allowed due to the printing clause of the license, but only if I actually get to the selling stage of the board game, and that's behind un-shelving the project anyway. XD
If that's something you're cool with, would you mind adding an exception to the license for board game pieces and board game box art?
Anyway, looks awesome and I'm working on a 2D Godot game right now, so that's what I'm actually looking to use it for short term. Thanks!
I am also wondering this. I want to use it as a placeholder until I can replace it, but I don't want to get in trouble if something leaks through to the final product. It's just my wife and I making our game together, and we may slip up and leave something in the files, or worse the game by mistake. I don't want to get in trouble if that happens.
Thanks!
Can these be used in a commercial product? I'm making all my own art for my little indie eventually, but I need to know it's safe to use art like this as a placeholder in case I either can't replace them in time or somehow forget that they're placeholder. I'm keeping to assets that are safe in case I make a mistake.
That said, anything I implement as a placeholder will be in my credits even if I do replace the art, just in case the sprites are somehow still in my game files or something.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I think itch has updated their website to allow you to make that explicit in the "More information" section of your asset, and it helps us users filter for products that (for this example) are commercially free to use. But it may take a minute or two to set up. I'm new here and am only downloading at the moment, so I have no idea how involved it is.
What are the usage rights for these assets? I don't see a license listed or described anywhere. Are they commercial free as well as purchase free?
Basically I want to use them at least for placeholders in my current project in Godot, but I'm worried I might not have time to make final art or will forget where something comes from. To that end I'm making sure that every asset I use as a placeholder is commercially free to use. I might end up shipping with your assets, especially since they look great.
So that's my other thought. I really like them. Once I add them to my library I was hoping to use them in a future project deliberately even if I do manage to make original art for this project to replace them with. But I am hoping to sell my games
So anyway, just wondering.
Oh my god, I got through the first two missions not knowing you could interact with the start location to open up that area... I failed so many times at the second level thinking it was meant to be brutal.
After realizing that you could interact with the start location the first time that I got to the third level, I finally beat it. Also I killed a 100 enemy with a Juggernaut.
The lesson is to thoroughly read the gameplay instructions before playing.
10/10, and now I want a 4X version.
I only just found out about it and was going to all his handles to find the same. I hope he just went quiet as he finishes the game to make Nintendo think he gave up or something. But I suspect you're right.
What I dream of, though, is that they took one look at the project and signed him on to make it for real... Oh well.
EDIT: That being said, this itch.io project is still marked as "In Development" so he either quit and forgot to change that or he's still working on it and just not active on his socials. That could either be to go stealth mode on Nintendo's lawyers while they're busy with Pal World, or maybe he DID get a contract with Nintendo... now I really am dreaming. lol
