Thanks, man. It was an issue related to the display driver. Found and fixed it and can now play the game

I tried to update my graphics drivers, but they were already up to date. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with all the latest driver updates through the NVIDIA app. But still faced the issue OP posted. So I tried the patch as well and that didn't work too. I downloaded the game for windows and the patch from gdrive.
