I'm not sure what the deal is as far as this update stuff goes but you can't blame people for looking at promo images and basing their impressions on that. 
If all you see is lesbian stuff, one would logically assume it's about lesbians.

Really great game

Seems to be AI. Or at least that's the impression I get at least. The design and especially colouring style seems like a red flag

It's not out yet. Both itch and steam versions are coming out on august 16th or something. I would assume the patch will be a download here.
