I just bought A House of Many Doors, and noticed the downloadable archive did not get any update since March 2017 (I guess this is the game version 1.2). On the other hand the Steam version got updated several times recently, up to version 2.2 in February 2024.

Could you please update the itch.io build so we too get access to the latest version of the game?

When following the download link for “WYDTTM Main”, I am redirected to a Google Store page that is asking me to buy the game again. Is this the expected behaviour, or some bug in the download links?

That’s right, ./play.it is not required in any way to play Celeste on Linux ;)

Its purpose is to improve games integration with your system, by relying on the packages manager, using system libraries instead of the shipped ones, providing menu entries, etc. In the case of Celeste, the main upsides are:

• using system-provided Mono runtime instead of the shipped ones
• using system-provided SDL2 and PNG libraries instead of the shipped ones
• work around terminfo Mono bug, cf. https://github.com/mono/mono/issues/6752
• work around Mono unpredictable behaviour with non-US locales

It seems to work fine here (Debian Bullseye/Sid), using ./play.it to install it and apply required workarounds.

For a DRM-free lossless soundtrack, the one available on Bandcamp is probably the best way to support Supergiant Games: Pyre: Original Soundtrack

It might not be obvious (you need to read the fine print to notice it), but it actually comes with the soundtrack expansions The White Lute and The Black Mandolin.

It seems to be OK here.

I use the command line tool unzip to extract the archive contents, with no issue to report. After the extraction, the game runs as expected.

Oh, I didn’t understand that it is only a temporary workaround, it makes more sense this way ;)

If I see no news on this front in a couple days, I’ll ping itch.io support to make sure they understand there are players waiting for it.

The current download link, based on Google Drive, has a lot of issues due to hit quotas, probably because of the recent inclusion of Fossil Echo in the current Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality.

Could you please instead host a copy of the game installer on itch.io servers, to make sure it is reliably downloadable?
