UPD: on another page it is explained that the map is just released a bit ahead of schedule for donors. I'm still not convinced about that, but I confirm it's definitely much better this way at least. Quoting:

One remark with regards to the paid maps access. I'm not sure if it fits SupertuxKart's spirit very well? I mean, I bet it's legal and has no problems with the license of the project. But it makes it feel as if the project is a project with a commercial core. It kind of feels as if it accepts the business model of paid games, and tries to fit in the same target audience and mentality. I'm afraid of the negative effects this can have on people's perception of the game. For example, I happily donated few years ago. I would be happy for any new maps to be available for everyone though, not just me.

Regardless, thanks for the work on the game and please consider what I'm trying to say in this comment (maybe I didn't choose the best words to explain what I mean)!
