you should open construction mode. Place semi-transparent objects on ground and after that hire engineers/sappers and they will build it. Input controls are bit weird, but this should work

I don't remember level 24. But u can send many soldiers and eventually stakes will break from dead bodies

in building mode place barricades on ground. hire engineers/sappers and they will build them automatically 

i don't fully remember which levels are borodino. But last levels with heavy combat, many troops and lot of dead bodies are borodino
