The heart meter is a visual indicator of Akano's like for you. Most endings will trigger by the heart meter being at a certain fullness at different points of the game which is based on your choices. So in a way, yes the heart is the only thing keeping you from death, but it is entirely determined by the many different choices you make.

1. I think he would keep the bit going as long as he could, pretending to be scared and fabricating a whole story about how he ended up there. He would lead them to the hatch whilst keeping their hands bound (pretending he cannot break the ziptie), before holding a knife to their throat from behind before they can start to exit.

2. I think Akano would be embarrassed and apologetic, these events are something the pair might never speak about and try to put behind them. I think if MC continually brought up these events as leverage in arguments, Akano would be irritated that they were holding his past against him and this would cause problems in the relationship.

3. If MC cheated in this ending, of course Akano would be very angry. However, if he breaks up with them he risks them going to the police about everything Akano did to them. He faces a dilemma of putting up with it and remaining in the relationship whilst feeling betrayed, or reverting back to his old ways and killing the unfaithful MC.

4. Akano is very similar to this, so I think this would only bother him if MC was unemployed and leeching off him.

I see! This is quite strange. I have recompiled and uploaded a new build for Mac. There may have been some kind of corruption issue.

Oh dear!
I just had my Mac playtester install the game, and it has opened fine for them. The game may just be incompatible with your Mac, but I'd suggest first reinstalling and running the game with your antivirus disabled to see if that fixes the issue.

Hopefully you are able to play it!

Are you getting an error log with RenPy? Or is the application just not opening at all?

If it won't open, that sounds like it might be your Mac's antivirus stopping the application! This is quite a common issue. Try some guides online for running RenPy games with Mac and see if that fixes it :]

I thought this might be an issue of missing font, but I checked the code and it's in there! Not sure why the game can't read it. Judging by the squares, it may have had trouble reading the Chinese characters in the font name. The PC version of the game does not have this issue as far as I am aware. I have changed the font for Android and checked that it works!
Please reinstall the game :]

The resemblance to Ren's route is definitely there, but not intentional!! Bringing in a secondary person to torture felt like a natural progression for the game.
