I need to get this out of my system. In short, nice, short experience, memorable everything, replayed a hundred times. Long version, I’d been waiting and following this game since its very first announcement, ever since I enjoyed Courtin’ Cowboys and Lovers Trophy. The first time I played the initial demo, it really set the tone for a gritty, early to mid 2000s vibe (I think it’s supposed to be the 2000s? A lot of the dialogue feels that way). All the characters are memorable, even with their short interactions, I love all the designs, the rooms, the characters, the CGs, don’t even get me started on Reap and Sow (the characters, lol). I got all the endings, and I’m currently trying to see all the flavor text variations based on your character’s role. That feature alone is really cool, it boosts the replayability by tenfold and makes you feel like a different person each time, especially with all the customization options, even if it’s just one or two new lines.
I think the Sheltered and Goth archetypes are my favorites so far. There’s one scene with Sheltered (SPOILER!!!) where you can ditch Samara in Act 2, and then in Act 3, when you try to get revenge and insult her, your character first says, “You’re going to hell!”, which I don’t think any other archetypes say, and then follows up by calling her a “skank bitch.” I thought that was a neat, small detail that made me feel more immersed in the personality of the character I was playing.
The soundtrack is calm and lovely too, I used to let it play in the background while doing other things back when only the demo was out. I did the same with Courtin’ Cowboys before realising the soundtrack is on Spotify, oops.
While I liked all the characters, Reap and Scott really intrigued me. Reap, because I first summoned Sow, she’s a good counterpart, cause she’s (spoiler for character?) playful and lighthearted, while Reap feels more intimidating and self aware of his power. Scott was also charming, I liked the dangling ending the best. In my earlier playthroughs, he came across as confident, maybe a bit intimidating, but seeing that side of him where he’s clearly not to be messed with, yet still approachable if you’re friendly was nice. Ollie was sweet too and his shocked expression made me giggle.
Anyway, I absolutely love the game and can’t wait for the DLCs of the other characters and future plans :)
