Taking a break today, never caught my breath after the sprint session.

Might draw some thumbnails for the streams, and I'm playing with the idea of posting notifications to twitter/bluesky/instagram. Still not sure what the purpose is of streaming outside of time keeping/progress tracking but I reckon it's a place to listen to podcasts and/or talk game dev. If anyone wants to use it as a co-working stream than by all means hop in and let me know what you're up to.

Other than that, I decided I'm going to post a playable demo on to itch.io and move some of my dev log updates to there and/or make small video 'write-ups' for Youtube. I do this already in the form of stream descriptions where I talk about the previous day and my thoughts for that days goal but I think it'd be fun to have a more curated form of updates since the streams are usually just slow work on code or small changes to an animation.

I've yet to see a game or project that is quite exactly the kind of game I want to play. When I'm done working on [current project], I like to unwind by putting on a podcast or livestream while playing a video game. In the past, the most relaxing and enjoyable game to play for me was The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild back in '17. This is where I started the habit of 'background noise + open world gaming' that fulfills me the most when it comes to enjoying free time.

There is definitely a plethora of games that you can play in a 'brain-off' mode, but there's still a particular experience I'd like to have that is a mix of exploration, discovery, and satisfying active gameplay that you can choose to play focused or un-focused while enjoying music, podcasts or the company of others. Until this game exists, I'll continue working on [current project]. I'm excited that the direction of this theoretical game can be decided by my hand, and I really hope to add in all the fun quirky ideas that come to mind. At the end of the day, I'm making an experience catered towards my own desires - but most of the media I enjoy is typically content that has a huge fanbase and holds a quality and care that naturally speaks to anyone willing to engage with the media. All that to say, if I ever feel like the quality and content of [current project] is worth sharing, then I will. And if you're someone looking to try something familiar but new, than I hope this game is something you find worth engaging with as well.

That was fun! Love the hub world, and the little bubble trick shots were great mini-puzzles. The vibes are nice too, very retro anime. 5 stars!

Thank you for the valuable insight. To address your concerns, there were issues with camera speed and player animations when I would unlock the frame rate, so the option was removed for this demo. Similarly, the camera rotation was optimized for controller for the longest time and M&K support was one of the last things added.

In short, the foundational components of camera control and frame rate were developed at the start and too much of the game hinged on those things being static - leading to them to be virtually unchangeable without adding longer development periods. Rest assured, I plan to find a better option for camera control and FPS changes for any future development (lesson learned!).

As for the open-world: the lack of enemy variety is definitely an issue and that too will get a refresh in the future. Ideally, this leads more interesting engagements!

Thanks for the feedback once again! Really appreciate it!

Thanks alec, there are plans for a game play revamp so stay tuned! Thank you for the kind words and encouragement!

Thanks for the feedback! That's a good observation, there are plans to add an additional enemy to the overworld that can move around - something akin to the final boss but one tier below in terms of difficulty.

I'll see what I can do about tightening up that camera!

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!

Man this game feels GOOD! One of the nicest looking games on the whole site and one of the most solid experiences on here period! I've been following tito on twitter for awhile and watching him level up so much in such a small window is insane, this guy is TALENTED. Knocked it out of the park, crazy how immersed I got in literally the first 10 seconds. 6 demon bunnies out of 5

This game does a fantastic job at making the player feel in control of their movement. The lean really sells the motion and the guns’ unique recoil patterns make each one feel viable in their own ranges.

On top of that, the music compliments the art style so well! This is very much a trippy game, but at its core, its just a solid experience overall. I found myself making a lot of decisions that were so intuitively built in like switching between main weapons and only pressing 1 to switch to pistol.

Knocked this one out of the park and looking forward to level 2!

Awesome, I'll try and stop by! Although you may not need the whole 30 minute time-slot haha
